Luzerne County’s prison system has started activating a mobile phone app for staff to track inmates, county Acting Correctional Services Division Head Stanley Fiedorczyk said Tuesday.

A Luzerne County Council committee recently discussed home rule charter changes that may be put before voters as individual ballot referendums in future elections, possibly starting with this year’s November general election.

Bidders purchased nine properties for a total of $311,383 at Luzerne County’s recent special delinquent tax auction, according to county tax-claim operator Elite Revenue Solutions LLC.

Luzerne County Council is still pondering a proposed ordinance that would create a county human relations commission to rule on discrimination complaints that extend beyond county government and involve employment, housing, healthcare, education, and establishments offering goods and services to the general public.
