Study commission majority approves final recommended Luzerne County charter

A Luzerne County Government Study Commission majority voted Monday to approve the final proposed new county home rule charter that will be placed before voters for possible adoption Nov. 4.

After more than a year of deliberation, Luzerne County’s Government Study Commission is set to vote Monday night on the final proposed home rule charter revision that will be placed on the Nov. 4 general election ballot for voter consideration.

Rockin’ the River not cancelled

As of 3:30 p.m., Friday evening’s free Rockin’ the River concert was still scheduled to proceed, although Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo said she is closely monitoring the weather.

Weather permitting, Friday’s final 2025 Rockin’ the River performance in Wilkes-Barre will be held with a completely new roster of performers because the two scheduled acts have both withdrawn, Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo announced Thursday in a statement that said “The show must go on!”
