DALLAS TWP., Pa. – The Misericordia University Interprofessional Education Connection (MIPEC) is presenting the program, “Professional Licensure Essentials: Protecting Your Livelihood,’’ with Edie Brous, Esq., P.C., from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 16 at Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

The program for health care professionals and students majoring in the health and medical sciences is free, but due to limited seating, registration is required. An attorney and registered nurse, Brous combines her experience and passion for health care and law into interactive presentations that focus on licensure, malpractice and advocacy issues. She is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania State Bar Associations. A past president of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys, Brous maintains active nursing license status in New York and Pennsylvania.

The program features three components that address misperceptions about licensure and regulation, common causes of licensure discipline, and licensure protection strategies, and will provide valuable information that is relevant to all licensed health care professionals. The presentation will include an interactive lecture followed by a question-and-answer session.

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has approved the program for 2.5 continuing education credits. The Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy approved it for 2.0 credits under law and/or ethics. Credit approval is pending from the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association.

MIPEC in the College of Health Science and Education works to engage students and faculty in interprofessional education and experiences to support the collaborative team approach to patient/client-centered care. Its mission is to prepare students and faculty to function as members of an effective collaborative health team. MIPEC also promotes and advances research and scholarly activity related to interprofessional education and practice within the health care profession.
