Mike Papi’s fifth professional baseball season came to an end when he left a Columbus Clippers game Aug. 25.

The Tunkhannock graduate was placed on the International League disabled list Aug. 31, retroactive to Aug. 29.

A right fielder, Papi spent the entire season at Triple-A, one step away from the Major Leagues and batted .247 in 83 games for the top affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. He had 17 doubles and seven home runs while driving in 26 runs.

This was Papi’s second season at Triple-A after splitting 2017 between that level and Double-A Akron.
