August 2003
Lake-Lehman wrestler Harveys Lake resident Matt Dragon took two championships at the 33rd Annual Asics/Vaughan Junior National Championships.
Dragon finished with a final record of 18-0 in the Greco and Freestyle competitions to earn his two national titles. Two weeks earlier, Dragon competed in Colorado for the PA Cadet Team that won a Freestyle and Greco national championship.
In the championships, Dragon captured technical falls in 51 seconds in the Greco and 40 seconds in Freestyle. He was the only Pennsylvania wrestler to achieve the title of Dual National Champion in 2003.
August 1993
College Misericordia hosted its second annual Cheerleading Clinic at the Anderson Sports and Health Center. More than 50 young cheerleaders from throughout the Wyoming Valley attended.
Misericordia cheerleading advisor Fran Rismondo ran the clinic. Local girls participating were Whitney Adams, Dallas; Shelley Wentzel, Harveys Lake; Sarah Lozo, Dallas; Lauren Brennan, Shavertown; and Jennifer Frank, Harveys Lake.
August 1983
Several local boys basketball players finished up the Summer Basketball League held at Lake-Lehman High School.
The league was hosted by Lake-Lehman and Bill Jones coached the local players. Those who participated were Lenny Annetta, Anthony Monaco, Bill Boyle, Donny Thompson, Bob Moosic, Chris Engle, Rooster Cadwalader, Frank Coslett, Andrew Sabaluski, Dan Hudzik, Mike Paraschak, Brian James and Walt Konopke.
August 1973
Members of the Dallas A Farm Team, champions of the Back Mountain Farm League, were honored for their accomplishments after the season. The players and families also attended Bat Day at Yankee Stadium earlier in the year.
Trophies awarded at the picnic were to Eric Rambus, Most Hits (15) and Most RBI (20); Mike Parsons, Most Runs (16) and Highest Batting Average (.769). Parsons was also named Most Valuable Player.
