DALLAS TWP. — The Misericordia University Colleges Against Cancer Chapter surpassed last year’s fundraising total by raising more than $36,000 for the fight against cancer during the ninth annual Relay for Life even on campus in April.
The student-run fundraiser for the American Cancer Society has grown incrementally since it raised $7,000 during its inaugural effort in 2011. Overall, the annual event has raised more than $266,000 since its inception.
The 2019 Misericordia University Relay for Life in the Anderson Sports and Health Center featured 40 teams. The top fundraisers included Misericordia University field hockey, $3,368; Misericordia Student Occupational Therapy Association, $2,131; Misericordia University cheerleading 2, $1,473; Misericordia University cheerleaders, $1,254, and R-Killin’ Cancer, $1,243.
