DALLAS TWP. — Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team players and their mascot Tux recently visited Dallas Elementary School’s Heather Pitcavage’s third-grade class as a reward for having read the most books of all participating schools for the first half of the Robo’s Readers program. The students read a total of 420 books during the first half of the program, which started Oct. 2 and ended Nov. 17. Plus, each student who read 10 books during this time also received a free voucher for a Penguins hockey game.

Brian Troiano, the director of ticketing, reported that, at the end of the first half of the Robo’s Readers program, book totals had already surpassed last year’s book total of just over 82,000 books read by students in 33 participating schools, with just under 104,000 books read.
