Thomas’ Family Markets held a spring and a fall barbecue as well as a charity golf tournament at Blue Ridge Train Golf Course in July. Portions of the proceeds totaling $4500 go to the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company. Thomas’ has been doing fund raisers to assist local causes since 1998 and by means of these charitable events they have contributed more than $65,000 to the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company. In addition, donations will be made to the Trucksville Volunteer Fire Department and several parishes throughout the area to assist families in need.
