DALLAS TWP. — Misericordia University Associate Professor Steven J. Tedford, Ph.D., chairperson of the Department of Mathematics, recently had two scholarly articles published in Fibonacci Quarterly, a scientific journal on mathematic topics related to the Fibonacci numbers.
In the research paper, “Combinatorial Identities for the Padovan Numbers,’’ Tedord studied a new approach to prove some previously known and new results relating to the Padovan Numbers, a sequence of numbers related to the Fibonacci numbers.
Tedford introduced a new graph theory approach to the sequence of Fibonacci numbers is his scholarly article, “Fibonacci Graphs.’’ He showed how some identities relating to the sequence imply structural properties for the graph.
Tedford is a resident of Mountain Top. Both of his scholarly research papers were published in Fibonacci Quarterly’s Volume 57, Number 4 in November. The journal, which publishes four times a year, began publishing in 1963. It is the primary publication of The Fibonacci Association, an international mathematic association that specializes in the Fibonacci number sequence and a wide variety of related subjects.
