Pizza Perfect is not only a name for the Back Mountain restaurant which is a favorite of many — it also describes both the food and the atmosphere of the eatery.
Pizza Perfect has been named Best Square Pizza for the 11th consecutive year by readers of the Dallas Post and the Times Leader in the Back of the Back Mountain Readers’ Contest.
Owners Janine Hudak and Tammy Lemelin learned about the importance of family from their parents Richard and Louise, bringing that sense of family to their customers through both food and service.
The restaurant has been operating out of the same spot for over 40 years with the same basic menu, which has continued to attract more and more customers over the years.
Originally, the business occupied only half of the building which sits at the bottom of Carverton Road in Trucksville, but in the 80s, the eatery took over the entire building as the business acquired more customers.
Its management team consists of long-time employees who know a lot not only about food and service, but about customers — many of whom make coming out to the restaurant a tradition.
Many employees have also worked at the restaurant for a long time, with some having joined the restaurant’s team as their first job.
Many customers now coming to the restaurant as adults remember coming as children, sharing a slice of pizza with their parents as they watched the overhead toy train circling above them.
The restaurant has a varied menu which includes a variety of pizza and wings, with its award-winning square pizza a favorite of many.
To Janine and Tammy, the restaurant goes far beyond a job or a business.
Following the death of their father Richard Adamchick in 2015, the two have stepped up to the helm of the business with an eye to both the past and the future.
“The best compliment we receive is people coming back generation to generation,” the sisters said. “We never change our ingredients so the product remains consistent.
“Our customers and our employees are the best there are. We appreciate being part of our community.”
