DALLAS TWP. — Misericordia University recently hosted rising high school juniors and seniors on campus for a series of six Career Exploration Camps that provide aspiring collegians an opportunity to experience and learn more about exciting professions and residential life on a college campus. The camps are a popular destination for students who want to explore the fields of biology, chemistry-biochemistry, communications and media, literature, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.
The Communications and Media Career Exploration Camp offered students from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania the opportunity to explore the many exciting careers available in the field. Students created a television magazine show, learned studio and field video production techniques, and tried their hand at graphic design. Afterward, they received copies of their media products as the first entries into their pre-professional media portfolios.
Members of the Misericordia University Department of Communications and Design guided the camp. Faculty members, who have decades of professional experience in print, broadcast and integrated media, also advise Misericordia’s national and state award-winning media, including the campus’ television network, MCN 87, The Highlander student newspaper, Cougar Radio, and Service by Design, an advertising and public relations community service group.
