DALLAS TWP. — The Department of Social Work at Misericordia University recently held a pinning ceremony for seniors and inducted students into the university’s Epsilon Chapter of the Alpha Delta Mu National Social Work Honor Society during a program in the Catherine Evans McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library.

Social work students Allison Butow, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey; Japriya Carroll, York; Katelyn Campbell, Sunbury; Lindsay Lord, Frackville; Kendra Mattice, Pennsburg, and Lucia Walkowiak, Wilkes-Barre were inducted into the honor society.

The pinning ceremony honored seniors who will earn their bachelor’s degrees at the university’s 93rd annual spring commencement ceremony on May 11. Honorees included Grace Pollock, Mountain Top; Brianna Smith, Nanticoke; Ashlilyn Steblinski, Monroe Twp.; Christine Ward, Sayville, New York, and Deanna Warren, Nicholson. Butow, Carroll and Walkowiak also will receive their degrees in the spring.

With the motto, “Advocate for the People,” the honor society’s purpose is to encourage and recognize superior scholarship in social work education and to advance excellence in social work practice. To be eligible for chapter membership, a student must be a social work or social welfare major in a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Undergraduate members must achieve at least junior standing, complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at Misericordia, hold a 3.25 or better grade point average, and have recommendations from at least two social work faculty members.
