DALLAS TWP. — Misericordia University is offering a full schedule of classes and camps for children, teenagers and adults beginning as early as May 14 that will add some fun and learning to their summer.
“Introduction to Digital Photography and Photoshop,” for people 15 and older, will be held on five Tuesday evenings beginning July 16. Instructor Jimmy May will provide the basics on how to take photos with a digital camera or smart phone and edit using Photoshop and other photo processing techniques.
“Therapy Dog Preparation Class,” is a six-week course for qualified dogs, which will provide handlers the opportunity to learn and practice basic skills for their dogs to become therapy dogs. To be eligible for training, dogs must meet a list of qualifications. The program will be held on Wednesdays beginning July 10.
“Clay by Hand and Pottery Wheel” is for people 14 and older. It offers three eight-week class options beginning June 3. Instruction will include hand-building and pottery wheel skills, and decorative and glazing techniques. Online registration is available at www.misericordia.edu/adultclay.
The new “Senior Lunch and Learn Series” features two free personal development and growth programs that will help senior citizens deal with life’s events. “Senior Citizens and Over-the-Counter Medications: The Good, the Dangerous and the Side Effects,” will be presented on Tuesday, June 25. The second free program is “Eight Things Older Adults & Families Should Plan For,” on Tuesday, July 30. Both programs are from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Catherine Evans McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library, and include a healthy lunch courtesy of Metz Culinary Management. Advanced registration is required four days prior to the event.
A one-day workshop, “An Introduction to Mindfulness: Personal and Professional Implications,” will be held June 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. Dr. Cindy March, RSM, will offer simple practices that can be used to enhance the depth and quality of life and encourage a deeper appreciation for everyday lived experiences. A second one-day workshop, “Time Management: There’s an App for That!” will be held on July 17 from 10-11:30 a.m. This workshop will review and offer practical tips and applications to help organize personal and professional life.
There are two free NEPA Lyme Support Group Meetings on June 4 and Aug. 6. They offer guest speakers and informational literature on how to prevent tick bites, Lyme and tick-borne illnesses.
There are six sports camps for children and teenagers on the schedule:

In addition to the Fun and Fitness schedule, a series of five Career Exploration Camps is available for students entering 11th and 12th grades. The Chemistry-Biochemistry Sciences Camp will be offered June 30 to July 2.
