LEHMAN TWP. — The Dallas Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the regional Science Olympiad March 8 at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The team started preparing for the competition in September 2016 and competed against 22 middle schools from Northeast Pennsylvania The Dallas Middle School team place fourth.
The team also placed in the top 4 places in 13 of 22 events — a new school record.
The team now advances to the state level competition at Juniata College April 29.
The following students were honored for their performance in the following events:
Science Crimebusters – Shelby Pocono and Hannah Wolfe, second place
Anatomy and Physiology – Vidhan Dhol and Hannah Wolfe, second place
Ecology – Gabrielle Avila and Shelby Pocono, fourth place
Invasive Species – Gabrielle Avila and Gabriela Krochta, second place
Road Scholar – Ian Atkinson and Daniel Flynn, first place
Rocks and Minerals – Thomas Janoski and Carla Weiss, third place
Optics – Vidhan Dhol and Carla Weiss, fourth place
Disease Detectives – Thomas Janoski and Shelby Pocono, fourth place
Wright Stuff – Ian Atkinson and Daniel Flynn, third place
Microbe Mission – Thomas Janoski and Drew Lojewski, second place
Towers – Daniel Flynn, fourth place
Experimental Design – Megan Bryk, Vidhan Dhol, and Drew Lojewski, second place
