DALLAS TWP. — Namaste to the Back Mountain and surrounding communities from the area’s new business, G+ME Children’s Yoga & Boutique.

G+ME Children’s Yoga & Boutique, located at 1140 Twin Stacks Drive, is a dual business offering yoga classes designed for babies, children, teens and families and a clothing and home decor boutique, said Amanda Faneck, the owner.

The yoga studio opened Thursday, Nov. 3 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and free community classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5. The boutique is slated to open in December, Faneck said.

Faneck, a mother and a registered yoga instructor, was inspired to open the business by her 2 1/2-year-old son, Grayson. She incorporated his influence into the business name; G+ME stands for Grayson and me, she said.

For youngsters such as Grayson, Faneck incorporates breathing and movement activities with children’s stories to bring them to life.

For example, children make a buzzing sound of a bee and learn the butterfly pose to coincide with Eric Carle’s book “The Hungry Caterpillar,” she said.

Faneck said the practice helped calm her toddler down from temper tantrums. She noticed Grayson began to develop coping skills that evolved from an elementary level of yoga she practiced with him.

She said the severity of her son’s temper tantrums decreased when she would sing a song used during her yoga sessions with him.

“Yoga is so much more that breathing and positions, it helps children develop body awareness and coping skills,” she said.

Older children and adults will receive a more traditional yoga class that can boost their self-esteem and increase concentration, Faneck said.

For adults, yoga helps them to let go and release stress and tensions of the day, but for children, it is more about creating a fun environment, she said.

The second part of the business, the boutique, will offer attire for babies, children, and tweens, she said.

“We will offer a multitude of items for children,” Faneck said.

Some brand names she will have available in December will be Sugarboo & Company, Magicforest Ltd., Little Unicorn, Mayoral Children Clothing, Lil Pyar and Moulin Roty.
