DALLAS — The late season winter storm has postponed Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor’s presentation at Misericordia University.

Kor was scheduled to present “Triumph of the Human Spirit, from Auschwitz to Forgiveness” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, which was the final program in Misericordia University’s “Deadly Medicine Series.”

The sold-out lecture is rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall at Misericordia University, 301 Lake St., Dallas, Paul Krzywicki, manager of the Office of Public Relations and Publications at the University.

Ticket holders can obtain a new voucher for the rescheduled date by calling the university’s box office at 570-674-6719 by April 30. Tickets that are not renewed will become available to the public on May 1, Krzywicki said in a news release

Kor and her twin sister, Miriam, were 10 years old in 1944 when their family was forced into a cattle car and transported to Auschwitz concentration camp.

The sisters were separated from their mother and used as “human guinea pigs in genetic experiments under the direction of Dr. Josef Mengele,” the news release stated.

Kor and Miriam survived and removed from the facility along with nearly 200 other children by the Soviet Army.

Kor, 82, opened CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1995.

Kor’s traumatic story and personal strength to preserver were documented in a film called “Forgiving Dr. Mengele and a book called, “Surviving the Angel of Death: The Story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz.”

She has become an advocate for genocide prevention and has taken her message worldwide.
