Laflin voters will have an extra 90 minutes — until 9:30 p.m. — to cast their ballots this evening because the polling place opened late, officials said.
Luzerne County sought county court approval for the extension.
County Manager Romilda Crocamo said the judge of elections did not appear, delaying the opening until 8:30 a.m.
The Laflin polling place is at St. Maria Goretti Church Hall on Redwood Drive.
Crocamo said online reports of the Laflin polling place running out of paper are false.
Turnout is steady at polling places, which is expected in a presidential election year.
“People should be patient and stay in line,” Crocamo said.
On the issue of supplies, Crocamo said the county has a large stock of paper, ink, provisional ballots and other supplies and a team of rovers delivering them as needed.
She praised poll workers for reaching out to request replenishments in advance and said she was not aware of any polling places running out of any supplies.
