World Down Syndrome Day fundraiser planned
DALLAS — Quinn Crispell will hold a World Down Syndrome Day fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at Wendy’s.
An eighth-grade student at Wyoming Valley West Middle School, Crispell will also participate in the National Down Syndrome Society’s 3.21 Run on World Down Syndrome Day, Wednesday, March 21.
Wendy’s will donate 10percent of all sales during the fundraiser to the NDSS.

Easter Egg Hunt planned
DALLAS — Dallas Borough will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at noon on Sunday, March 18 at the Kenneth Young Memorial Park located on the corner of Burndale Road and Luzerne Avenue.
Children ages 1-12 who reside in Dallas Borough are invited to attend to hunt for eggs, play games and have their faces painted. There will also be a chance for children to win a raffle basket.

DALLAS TWP. — Misericordia University will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 19 in Huntzinger and Alden Trusts Rooms 218 and 219 of Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall. Easter Egg Hunt planned
LEHMAN TWP. — The Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, 1011 Mountainview Road, will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt, a 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24. The hunt is open to all children ages 2-12 and will include both real hard-boiled eggs and plastic eggs with gifts inside. Please bring a basket or container to hold your eggs.
‘Below the Stairs at Hayfield’ event
LEHMAN TWP. — The Arts at Hayfield at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will hold ‘Below the Stairs at Hayfield: Women Servants’ at 1:30 p.m. March 24.
The 45-minute walking tour of Hayfield House will be presented from the perspective of the servants who served Bertha and John Conyngham.
Cost $10 (cash or check only) and includes a high tea at the end. Space on the tour is limited so advanced registration is required.

‘Fire Science and Safety’ lecture slated
KINGSTON – The Louis Maslow STEM School at Wyoming Seminary will present a lecture titled “Fire Science and Safety” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 24 in the Buckingham Performing Arts Center, North Sprague Avenue. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Wyoming Seminary senior Bayley Forgues, a Harveys Lake Fire Company volunteer, will join with fellow firefighters to present an interactive lecture. She will discuss her background of four years of volunteer service and training, which includes the completion of several courses toward her professional certification. She will also discuss how understanding the science of fire can help in saving lives. Demonstrations of fire-fighting tools and equipment, preparedness and safety precautions, and a look at the history of fires on Sem’s campus also will be offered.

Ham Dinner planned
SWEET VALLEY — The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company will hold a family style ham dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the fire hall, 5383 Main Rd.
Admission is $12 for adults, Children, ages 6 to 11 are admitted $6. Children younger than six years old are free to attend.
Easter Egg Hunt
DALLAS — Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department is having a Children’s Easter Egg Hunt from to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at the fire hall, 329 Orange Road.
Children 12 and under are invited to come a fun time of hunting eggs, crafts, snacks, and of course time with the Easter Bunny.
Rain date is Saturday, March 31.
Night at the Races slated
DALLAS — The Dallas Lions Club will hold its annual Night at the Races on Saturday, April 14, at the Gate of Heaven Gym on Machell Avenue.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and post time is 7:15 p.m. Admission is $5 but is waived with the purchase of a horse for $10.
Spaghetti dinner
DALLAS — Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department is having a spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at the fire hall, 329 Orange Road.
Menu includes spaghetti and meatballs with salad, rolls, dessert,and a drink.
Cost is $9 per person, $4.50 for children ages 6-12 and free for children age 5 and under. Take-out meals are also available.

Fire departments sponsor Night at the Races
DALLAS — Franklin Township and Mt. Zion Bicentennial Volunteer Fire Departments are hosting their third annual Night at the Races on Saturday, April 28 at the Franklin Twp. Fire Hall, 329 Orange Road.
Cost is $10 per ticket which includes one horse, food, soda, water and beer. This is a 21 and over BYOB event.
There will also be instant bingo, raffles, and other items to purchase throughout the night.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with the first race set for 6 p.m.
