Alaina C. Schukraft graduates from Elon University
DALLAS — Alaina C. Schukraft graduated from Elon University May 20 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
A graduate of Wyoming Seminary, she served as the executive director of the Elonthon Dance Marathon and president of Elon Mock Trial.
Schukraft is the daughter of Scott and Heidi Schukraft, of Dallas.
Skyler Velazco earns a degree from Miami University
OXFORD, OHIO — Skyler Velazco, of Dallas, was among more than 3,000 students from Miami University who received degrees during spring commencement exercises held May 13 at Yager Stadium.
Velazco received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science .
Luzerne County Community College inducts students into Alpha Sigma Lambda
NANTICOKE — Luzerne County Community College student Brandon Scott, of Sweet Valley, was inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society.
Scott was among 18 LCCC students who were named to the honor society that focuses on English language and literature in undergraduate studies. Sigma Kappa Delta also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature.
Five Back Mountain students receive National Latin Contest awards
FORTY – FORT — Five Back Wyoming Seminary Lower School students were among 28 who received awards in the National Latin contest for Northeastern Pennsylvania earlier this year.
Wyoming Seminary Lower School seventh-graders Sophia Kruger and Jessie Miller, both of Shavertown, as well as eighth-graders Oliver Lew, Christina Kaspar, both of Dallas, and Heather Paglia, of Shavertown, earned awards during the competition.
University of Rhode Island named local dean’s list students
KINGSTON, RI — The University of Rhode Island named four local students to the spring 2017 dean’s list.
They are Courtney Hoats, Dallas; Austin M Shission, Wyoming; Chaslyn Facciponti, Wyoming, and David P Tomaszewski, Shavertown.
University of Sciences releases dean’s list
PHILADELPHIA — Rory Moran, of Dallas, and Ashley Shotwell, of Tunkhannock, were named to the University of the Sciences Spring 2017 dean’s list.
Moran and Shotwell are both doctor of pharmacy students.
