DALLAS — The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at Misericordia University will showcase the works of artist Sharon Cosgrove in the exhibit, “Sudden Intuition: Paintings by Sharon Cosgrove,” from May 2 through June 30. In the adjacent MacDonald Gallery, the exhibit, “Roz Weinberger Ceramics: For the Love of Horses,” will feature Roz Potz pottery by Roz Weinberger of Mahwah, New Jersey.
The exhibits will open with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 in the Friedman Art Gallery. The exhibits and reception are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is closed for all university holidays. Cosgrove is an associate professor of art at Wilkes University, where she has been a member of the faculty since 1990. She also has served as a visiting associate professor at Santa Reparata International School of Art, Florence, Italy; as a visiting assistant professor at the Fulbright School of Art, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Arkansas, and as an adjunct professor at Keystone College, LaPlume. She is a resident of Wilkes-Barre, where she maintains a private art studio.
Her work is well known to local art enthusiasts and has been showcased in numerous exhibits throughout Pennsylvania and across the Northeast, including the Rosefeld Gallery in Philadelphia, the Casella Gallery at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, Massachusetts; and the James Gallery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Weinberger chooses the shapes based on whether the piece will be functional or artistic. according to Weinberger.
A member of the New Jersey Potter’s Guild, Weinberger’s pottery is on display at numerous sites in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, including her Roz Potz Gallery, Mahwah, New Jersey; Noyes Museum, Oceanville, New Jersey; Restyle Renew, Denville, New Jersey; and Art on Main, Pittston, Pennsylvania.
