U.S. Sen. faces a tough Democratic primary election battle with fellow U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak on Tuesday. With less than 24 hours until polls open, Specter embarked on a whirlwind tour of the state that’s taking him to eight towns, including Pittston Township.
Specter, D-Philadelphia, started his day in Erie at 8:45 a.m., then went on to Johnstown and New Cumberland before his 1:45 p.m. stop in Luzerne County. He was at the first floor conference room at the Airport Holiday Inn Express, adjacent to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International Airport for a meet and greet with the public and supporters. He’s then off to Allentown and finishes his tour in Philadelphia at 5:10 p.m.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett, also stopped in the area on Monday morning during a “Turning on the Power of Pennsylvania” rally. Corbett planned to stop at seven Pennsylvania cities in a barnstorming tour of the state in the 24 hours leading up to the primary election.
Polls in the state open at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
