SHAVERTOWN — Fresh produce will still be sold at Dymond Farm Market off North Memorial Highway.

A Facebook post on Saturday, Dec. 31, announced the 34-year-old family business was closing, but Ted Dymond of Dymond Farms clarified on Jan. 3 that it is just the bakery portion of the business that is closed and not the entire market.

“My sister-in-law, Jolaine, ran the bakery,” Ted said, adding Jolaine could no longer continue running the baking portion of the business.

The Dec. 31, Facebook post stated, “As we enter our 34th year of business, we are saddened to announce that we will be closing down after today. We would like to thank all of our customers who have continually supported us. The farm market on Brace Road will still be open to sell produce. Thank you all for your patronage and have a Happy New Year!”

Over 100 patrons professed their sadness to the news of the longtime bakery closing its doors on the last day of the year. Public comments included a farewell to favorite items such as sticky buns, pies and fresh breads and bagels.

Dymond’s Bakery was one of the few remaining bakery businesses open in the Back Mountain.

Ted added Dymond Farm Market, at 750 Main Road, will remain open for the sale of fresh produce. The family also runs a farm stand at 352 Brace Road in Franklin Township, near their farm.

Dymond said the family would continue to participate in three farmers markets held in Dallas, Wilkes-Barre and Pittston during the growing season.
