Sunshine, rain in the forecast through midweek

Sunshine is expected in the Wyoming Valley early this week, but the chance for showers will return by Wednesday.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 59 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International airport, and mostly cloudy skies were reported.

Cloudy skies will gradually become mostly sunny today, and the high will be near 67. Mostly clear skies will follow tonight, with a low around 42.

Sunny skies are predicted for Tuesday, with a high near 63. Clouds will increase into Tuesday night, and the low will be around 44.

Wednesday will bring mostly cloudy skies, along with a 50 percent chance of showers. The high will be near 58.

Showers will be likely into Wednesday night, but no rainfall amounts have been predicted. The low will be around 50.
