KINGSTON — Thanksgiving was a more festive holiday for several local families, thanks to dinner baskets delivered to area homes by members of the Wyoming Seminary student government.
The annual Thanksgiving basket project, a tradition for 48 years at Sem, began with fundraising appeals sent to students, parents, faculty and staff. In addition, student government members solicited donations at the school’s Thanksgiving chapel.
Students shopped for turkeys and other food items at local grocery stores before packing the items in the school student center and distributing them directly to six families identified by Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice Care.
Baskets were delivered to families in Harveys Lake, Dallas, Larksville, Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton. Student government officers organized this year’s project.
