DALLAS — St. Paul Summerfest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 22 on the church grounds at 474 Yalick Road off Route 118.
The annual event will feature musicians Jesse & Friends and a classic vehicle display by the Hi-Lite Motor Club as well as many other activities. Hi-Lite Motor Club will hold a classic car show, featuring nearly 60 vehicles from noon until 4 p.m.
Jesse & Friends, a five-piece band based in the Wyoming Valley, is known for its engaging worship and praise, country, bluegrass, gospel and rock and roll-influenced music. The band will perform from 3 to 8 p.m.
Visitors are invited to join the congregation for an outdoor service at 5:30 p.m., with music provided by Jesse & Friends. The congregation is celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation of Martin Luther, the founder of Lutheranism. Information about Martin Luther and the Reformation will be on display.
Also, the Summerfest will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. . All those interested in contributing are invited to visit www.geisingerbloodcenter.org and click on “Make an Appointment” or call 1-866-996-5100. Walk-ins are also welcome.
The Luzerne County SPCA will be in attendance with animals looking for a forever home.
Plus, the Back Mountain Railroad Club will offer a display of model trains. Club members invite event attendees to dig out their old trains from basements or attics and run them on the club’s test track.
Also, Young’s Funny Farm from Berwick will display its therapy animals and the Dallas Days Bicentennial Committee will offer a community art and history display.
A Silent Auction with themed baskets, a dunk tank, children’s games, bake sale, plant sale, and picnic food will also be featured. Baked goods will be auctioned.
A Lantern Launch at 8 p.m. will bring the Summerfest to a close.
