Murphy Agnew scored the game’s first four goals and assisted on the other Nov. 8 when Villa Joseph Marie eliminated Dallas with a 5-0 victory in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AA girls soccer quarterfinals at Hamburg.

The loss ended the season for the Mountaineers, who had been unbeaten while winning Wyoming Valley Conference and District 2 Class AA titles.

SENIOR GAMES

Nate Wood from Dallas scored the tying goal Tuesday night when the Navy team rallied past the Orange, 3-2, in the Wyoming Valley Conference Boys Senior All-Star Classic at Wyoming Seminary’s Nesbitt Stadium.

The Orange led 2-0 at halftime.

After the Navy scored twice in the first 7:12 of the second half, the game remained tied until Andriy Molchanov converted a pass from Wyoming Seminary teammate Malcolm Lumia with 8:30 left for the game-winner.

Lake-Lehman goalkeeper Collin Masters made six saves in the first half for the Navy.

Michael Symeon from Lake-Lehman, Donald Michalisin and Eric Pincofski from Dallas and Matt Dymond, Daniel Shurtleff, Eric Stamer and Aidan Cronin from Tunkhannock were all selected for the Navy team.

Talia Szatkowski scored the first goal of the game in the WVC Girls Soccer All-Star Classic that opened the doubleheader, but her Pink team fell to Neon Green, 4-2.

Alyssa Shaver from Wyoming Valley West had a second-half hat trick to lead Neon Green back from a 2-0 deficit.

Szatkowski, Ashley Strazdus, Sydney Emershaw, Kylee Saba, Jessica O’Malley and coach Abe Lewis all represented the Dallas championship team on the Pink squad.

The winning Neon Green team included Aleaha Blazick and goalie Hannah Stull from Lake-Lehman.

ALL-STARS

WVC girls coaches announced their all-star selections.

Szatkowski, Emershaw, Ruby Mattison, Tiffany Zukosky and Katie Snedeker represented Dallas on the WVC West first team where they were joined by Lake-Lehman’s Stull, Mackenzie Love and Kyra Apaliski.

Strazdus, Saba and Madison Goodwin from Dallas made the second team along with Aleaha Blazick, Makalie Blazick and Julia Hutsko from Lake-Lehman.

Honorable mention selections included: O’Malley, Samantha Mazula, Gabriella Darbenzio, Courtney Wagner, Kayla Stearn and Danielle Walsh from Dallas and Amanda Ayers and Hallie Jenkins from Lake-Lehman.
