The annual meeting of the Cedar Crest Cemetery Association, Inc., was held on Nov. 1. The officers of the board of directors were elected for 2015. They are Richard Harrison Sr., president; Robert Law, vice president; Louise Hazeltine, secretary; and Dr. Mark Law, treasurer.
The board officers noted that there are no more plots to be sold. However, burials will continue for all persons owning plots. Deeds will need to be presented when requesting interment at Cedar Crest.
As it is a very old cemetery, deeds may have been lost over time. A member of the board should be contacted at 570-696-1332 to assist in validating plot ownership.
The primary responsibilities of board members are to maintain the burial grounds, employ a person for seasonal mowing and clean up and administer the fund for annual giving essential to cover expenses.
At the present time, the cemetery association is seeking three persons to serve on the board. The by-laws call for the board to meet two times each year and for an annual meeting to be held in the fall. Anyone interested in serving on the board should call 570-696-1332.
