HARVEYS LAKE — The 28th Annual August Antique and Classic Boat Show presented by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter Antique and Classic Boat Society will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 on the docks at Grotto Marina.

The Antique and Classic Boat Society, Inc. (A.C.B.S.) is a national organization that promotes preservation and restoration of antique and classic boats.

“We expect the boat docks and boat launch area adjacent to Grotto Pizza to be active all day,” said Josh Bryant, president, Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter A.C.B.S. “What’s really amazing is we never know until the day of the show who will show up. Boat owners have come from as far away as Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.”

In 2017, Ray McDowell brought his remarkable 1963 Century Sabre boat Heaven on a Sunday to the show from Newton in Bucks County.

“The bright orange cloth interior on McDowell’s boat captivated the ladies,” said Bryant. “Heaven on a Sunday went on to win the coveted Ladies Choice Award.”

All sightseers are asked to vote for their favorite boat in the Peoples Choice Award Contest, and ladies only choose the recipient of the Ladies Choice Award.

Bryant, who also serves as boat show chairman, encourages everyone to vote. “We’ll have plenty of ballots and pencils at the registration tent,” he said. “The ballot box is often overflowing with ballots.”

Strawberry Jam Duo from the Back Mountain will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the deck of Grotto Pizza.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter A.C.B.S. is always looking for new members to join the local organization. Membership is open to the public and boat ownership is not required. For more information about becoming a member, email harveyslakeacbs@gmail.com.

A.C.B.S. boat show at Harveys Lake is presented annually free of charge to the public. Food and refreshments for the entire family are available for purchase at nearby Grotto Pizza.

The docks at Grotto Marina are located off Highway 415 at the entrance to the lake. There is plenty of free off-street parking at Grotto Pizza lot adjacent to the docks.

For more information on the boat show, call Josh Bryant at 570-592-7634.
