Tunkhannock had five players named to the first team in Class 4A when the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association released its all-state team.

Hopes Jones, Faith Jones, Kendra Schultz, Jena Simmons and Erin Dunn all represented the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 champions on the team.

After splitting the pitching duties for the Lady Tigers, Hopes Jones was selected to the all-state team as a designated hitter and Schultz was chosen as a utility player.

Hope Jones was 8-0 with an 0.39 earned run average while striking out 60 in 36 1/3 innings. She had a team-leading .556 batting average.

Schultz was 6-2 with a 2.03 ERA and 128 strikeouts in 69 innings. She batted .485.

Simmons, the catcher, led the team seven homers and 33 RBI while batting .444.

Faith Jones, a shortstop, batted .491 with 14 RBI and led the team with 11 stolen bases.

Dunn, an outfielder, batted .542 with 10 RBI and eight extra-base hits.

Tunkhannock was upset by eventual state semifinalist Honesdale in the District 2 semifinals.
