Abby Paczewski already has a state track and field medal as a member of a relay team.

Now, the Lake-Lehman junior is likely to contend for one as an individual in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg University.

Paczewski is the sixth seed in the Class 2A girls 1600-meter run after winning the District 2 title in 5:17.94.

Seeds for the state meet, which were released by the PIAA Sunday, are determined by performances in district championships around the state.

Tunkhannock freshman Matt Prebola is seeded seventh in the Class 3A boys javelin after winning District 2 with a throw of 192-10.

The top eight in each event at Shippensburg will earn medals and team points.

Track qualifying in all events other than the 3200-meter run is Friday. The 3200 runs just once, as a large final, on Saturday along with all the track finals.

Field events are split into four sets of competition, morning and afternoon Friday and Saturday. Prebola competes Saturday morning.

Paczewski is the highest Back Mountain seed at the state meet. She also anchors the 3200-meter relay team that goes in seeded 14th out of 26 and will need to improve upon that to give the school its third straight state medal in the event. Paczewski is the only returnee from last year’s medalists.

Natasha Mihalko from Lake-Lehman is seeded in the top half of the pack in the triple jump where she is 11th of 25. She competes Saturday afternoon.

Dallas senior Michael Anderson is exactly in the middle of the field for the Class 3A shot put as the 13th seed of 25. He competes Friday afternoon.
