Dallas falls in girls tennis; Mountaineers beat Tunkhannock in boys soccer

Holy Redeemer swept doubles and dominated the top two singles spots Tuesday to hand Dallas its first Wyoming Valley Conference girls tennis loss.

The Royals (9-1) did not lose a game at the top two singles spots.

Dallas (6-1) got its only team point when Caroline Stallard won in straight sets at third singles.

The results leaves Wyoming Seminary as the conference’s last unbeaten team.

Tunkhannock pulled out the close win by taking two of three singles matches.

Beaudyn Lewis had two goals and an assist to lead the Mountaineers to the WVC Division 1 victory.

Eddie Melan scored twice for the Tigers.

Gianna Musto had seven kills, eight digs and 11 service points to lead the 25-6, 25-19, 25-18 sweep.

Emma Berger had 22 assists to help keep the Mountaineers unbeaten through five matches.

Lyndsey Hornlein had 14 points, including seven on aces. Angelena Allen also had seven aces while finishing with 13 points and 10 digs.

Lake-Lehman 3, Pittston Area 2

Lake-Lehman moved above the .500 mark by rallying to pull out the 18-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 18-16 victory.

Jess Salus led the way with 10 kills.

Tyler Faux led the Tigers by shooting 3-over-par, 39 at Irem Temple Country Club.

Nick Budner added a 40 while Dylan Mislevy and Coby Gilpin each shot 41 while the top four all beat Valley West’s best score.
