WILKES-BARRE — Hunter Bowman, of Tunkhannock, is conducting theoretical research with Amjad Nazzal, associate professor of physics, this summer at Wilkes University.
Working with Nazal, Bowman is conducting research on a standard text problem, the Harmonic Oscillator under constant friction. The problem is often cited in text books and research literature but has not been fully investigated. The analysis should provide insights into the dependence of the life cycles of the oscillator on the parameters of the problem. Bowman is using Matlab software to conduct the computational analysis for the initial testing stages, but will be running the bulk of the research using the Python programming language.
Bowman is a chemistry major.
