After winning just once in 3 ½ weeks to begin the season, Back Mountain put together Wyoming Valley Senior American Legion Baseball game victories on consecutive days last weekend.
Nick Kocher’s two-run single highlighted a three-run first inning June 29 when Back Mountain defeated visiting Mountain Post, 4-3.
Josh Holdredge also drove in two runs, singling in one in the first and another in the sixth.
Matt Mathers singled and scored in the first and had a triple in the sixth to score on Holdredge’s hit.
Josh Lydon held Mountain Post to two hits in five innings to get the win. Justin Finarelli worked the last two innings to earn the save.
Back Mountain then split a doubleheader with Stripes & Strikes from Hazleton June 30, losing 10-1 and winning, 5-1.
Henry Selingo tossed a five-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Back Mountain win.
Robert Lukasavage, Mathers and Finarelli each had two hits.
The improved play continued for Back Mountain (3-9-1) Tuesday in a 5-4 loss to unbeaten league leader Swoyersville.
The Back Mountain Junior team outlasted Swoyersville, 11-10, July 1 to improve to 7-5.
Back Mountain’s Prep team leads the league with a 7-3-1 record after defeating Mountain Post, 9-1, June 30.
