DALLAS TWP. — C.J. Cercone went 4-for-4, including a hit that helped lead to the winning run June 20 when the Back Mountain Post 672 Senior team picked up its first Wyoming Valley American Legion Baseball win by topping Plains, 5-4, at Misericordia University.

Plains rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to force a 4-4 tie.

Jack Lukasvage then singled with one out in the bottom of the inning. Lukasavage moved to third on a Cercone single and scored the winning run on a Matt Mathers single to right-center field.

Mathers had also driven in a run and scored one in the four-run fourth inning that put Back Mountain ahead.

Cercone singled, stole second and scored on a Mathers single to tie the game. Josh Holdredge also singled, then Nick Kachur drove in both Mathers and Holdredge with his single.

Dylan Wesley’s RBI single brought in Kachur.

Henry Selingo struck out four while giving up just one run in five innings.

Josh Lydon picked up the win in relief.

Back Mountain slipped to 1-7-1 on the season with Monday’s 7-0 loss at Greater Pittston.

Lukasavage, Sam Sweitzer, Holdredge, Lydon, Wesley and Selingo had hits.

The Back Mountain Junior team improved to 6-4 when Andrew Martin threw a shutout Tuesday in a 3-0 victory over Mountain Post.

Back Mountain was tied for first in the four-team Prep League through Tuesday with a 5-2-1 record.

Tunkhannock was 4-4-1 in the Senior League and 5-3 in the Junior League to that point.
