January 2005

Bishop Hoban outscored Lake-Lehman 8-4 in the final eight minutes of the game to win, 39-34 in Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball action.

Lake-Lehman’s Tina Watkins led all scorers with 12 points. Sheree Horvath following with eight point.

January 1995

Eighth-grader Robyn Considine scored her 500th career point of her basketball career at the Gate of Heaven school with a win during the week. Considine is the daughter of Bob and Daria Considine of Shavertown. Considine was coached by Rick Guntli.

January 1985

The Lake-Lehman wrestling team picked up two Wyoming Valley Conference wins to improve to 6-0 on the young season.

The Knights opened the regular season with a 30-22 win over Coughlin. Jim Austin, Norman Clancy and Chris VanGorder each picked up key wins for Lake-Lehman. VanGorder recorded a pin in just 22 seconds, his eighth pin of the season.

Against Wyoming Area a day later, the Knights won 31-20. Dave Guzenski scored the big win for Lehman. He battled back from a 5-0 hole to win 10-5.

January 1975

Three straight wins gave the Dallas wrestling team the margin of victory it needed in a 25-20 win over Bishop O’Reilly.

The outcome of the meet was in doubt all the way as the two teams traded wins until Dallas ran off its streak. The final two bouts were draws. Only two pins were scored. At 98 pounds, Dallas’ Brian Corbett opened the meet by pinning O’Reilly’s Dave Michalek in 1:29.
