DALLAS — The following events are planned at Back Mountain Memorial Library, 96 Huntsville Road:

Fall Story Times

Fall Story Times signups are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 17 starting at 9:30 a.m.. Call that day to register; there are sessions for toddlers or for children 3 to 5 years old. Story hours will start the week of Oct. 1 and run through the week of Nov. 19. Story Times are a great way to instill in your child a love of books and learning.

Marvelous Monarchs

Come out Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2:30 p.m. for a program called “Marvelous Monarchs.” Naturalist Kathy Kelchner of Frances Slocum State Park will share the natural history of these beautiful butterflies while explaining what makes them unique. Interested in joining in a Citizen Science project to study the monarch? Hear the details at this fascinating presentation. This program is geared for adults. Call to sign up.

Designer Purse Bingo

Dreaming of Disney? Then you’ll want to attend our popular Designer Purse Bingo. Not only might you win the designer bag of your dreams, but this year’s prizes will also include five Disney passes. Tickets are on sale now for the Sunday, Oct. 13 event. Pre-sale price is $20, which includes three cards for each of 20 games. Extra bingo cards will be sold at the door. Tickets at the door will be $25, so come in soon to get yours, and save. Bingo is being held as before at the Dallas High School. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be on sale and you can try your luck on an assortment of raffle baskets and a 50/50. Call your friends and get your tickets. This is one event you don’t want to miss

Five Easy Pieces

The season is changing and if your fall wardrobe is past its prime, come join us for “Five Easy Pieces,” a fashion show featuring the designs of Candyce Fike. Candyce is a retired Dallas School District teacher who now creates unique and comfortable clothing in gorgeous fabrics found in her travels. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a cash bar. The place to be on Sunday, Oct. 20, is Appletree Terrace at Newberry Estates, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are now available at the library and cost $20 per person. All proceeds from this event will benefit the library.

News and notices

Time is getting short to visit the farmers market. The last day is Oct. 12 to get the freshest and most delicious produce in the area. Your favorite vendors are set up at the Dallas High School parking lot on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Locally-grown fruits, vegetables, baked goods, honey, jams, herbs, mushrooms, and more are available for purchase. The market benefits the Back Mountain Memorial Library.
