Penn State Wilkes-Barre will hold its annual Zombie 5K run/walk benefiting THON on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. THON, a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer, has raised more than $127 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital since 1977. THON 2019 will take place from Feb. 15-17, 2019 at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center.
In anticipation of THON 2019, Penn State Wilkes-Barre students invite the local community to celebrate both the THON and Halloween spirit. The Zombie 5K will begin at 10 a.m. on the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
Participants have the option to pre-register for $20 which includes a t-shirt. Registration at the day of the event is $25, but it does not include the t-shirt. Registrations must be received by Oct. 17 to guarantee a Zombie 5K t-shirt.
The course is both runner and walker-friendly and does not have a time restriction. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire duration of the Zombie 5K.
