The Pirates followed up two dominating efforts in the earlier rounds by edging the Yankees, 2-1, in the final to claim the Back Mountain Little League championship in the Major baseball division.
After the Pirates scored a combined 31 runs in their quarterfinal and semifinal games, the championship turned into a pitchers’ duel.
Gavin Adamski’s two-run triple in the bottom of the fourth lifted the Pirates to the victory.
The Yankees led, 1-0, after 3 ½ innings. Seth Berry and Alan Lisman started the rally with back-to-back singles and scored on Adamski’s triple.
Aiden Burkhardt struck out six while allowing four hits in 4 1/3 innings to get the win. He also had a hit.
Sam Barrouk led the Yankees offense with two hits. He also struck out five while giving up four hits in four innings.
Nathan Heffron had a triple in the loss.
Gavin Adamski tossed a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and Alan Linsman had three hits to lead the Pirates in the semifinal win.
Aiden Burkhardt added two hits in the win.
Tyler Casey struck out seven for the Giants.
Seth Berry had four hits while Carter Brunn and Andrew Bucholtz added two each to lead the 15-hit attack in the quarterfinal game. Gavin Adamski and Aiden Burkhardt combined to strike out nine in a four-inning, two-hitter.
Nathan Hinsdale struck out six for the Dodgers.
