KINGSTON TWP. — McDonald’s Restaurant has closed the curtain on its theater-themed dining room to usher in a fresh design focused on providing a “standardized customer experience,” Christina Curran, spokeswoman for Albert and Carol Mueller Limited Partners said Thursday.

The eatery, located at 1950 N Memorial Hwy. in Shavertown and operated by Albert and Carol Mueller Limited Partners, is part of a nationwide corporate campaign called Bigger Bolder Vision 2020, which is a push to renovate many of the chain’s older restaurants, Curran said.

Work on the Back Mountain location began Monday, June 4 and is tentatively scheduled to be finished by mid-July.

The dining room and lobby are closed to the public throughout the construction process, she said.

“The drive-thru is open,” Curran said, adding that it might have to close at certain times during the renovation.

When finished, the eatery’s lobby will feature kiosk and counter ordering as well as mobile order pay, which is an app that allows patrons to place an order and schedule a time for pick-up, she said. The drive-thru will still accommodate people-on-the-go.

“The dining room will be designed to offer table service,” Curran said. “It is all about creating a standardized customer experience.”

Curran was unable to provide a rendering of what the new dining room will look like, stating “they were given different decorating packages to chose from,” and some features may be changed.

The building’s facade building will also be “refreshed,” she said.

An auction held last week sold the Playbills and old movie posters that adorned the restaurant’s walls, Curran said.

The location’s theatrical theme was established in the 1980s. The lobby was last refreshed about nine years ago, she added.

McDonalds is also looking to hire employees for all positions, Curran said. Applications are available at www.qsrjob.com/4808.

McDonalds does offer a tuition reimbursement program called Arch Ways to Opportunities, which provides $2,500 for employees who are with the company for 90 days and work a minimum of 15 hours per week; managers can be eligible for up to $3,000 in tuition assistance, she said.
