DALLAS — The 2017 summer reading program “Build a Better World” has concluded at the Back Mountain Memorial Library. Participants read their way through the summer and also learned about recycling, clean water, building, tools, beavers, animal homes, manners and many other ideas that build a better world.

Parents who brought their children to the library were entered in a contest. Winners included Alice Colatosti, a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card; and Kyrston Strauch, a $25 Sheetz card.

Participants were asked to fill out surveys about the summer reading program for funding purposes. Winners were chosen from the entries and each received a gift card to Barnes and Noble. Winners are Nicholas Speicher, Alex Smulowitz and Grace Wilson.

Juliet Price, a homeschooled fifth-grade student from Pike’s Creek, won first prize in the Relax & Read tween and teen summer reading program. She received a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card. Emily James and Emily Leahy each won $10 Barnes & Noble gift cards. Participants read books of their choice and wrote reviews which were hung in the library for other teens to read.
