Sunny skies are expected for Independence Day, but there could be some showers and thunderstorms today and into tonight.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 65 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Some storms could produce gusty winds. Today’s high will be near 84.

Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, along with scattered showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. and isolated showers between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and tonight’s low will be around 60.

Sunny skies are expected for Independence Day, and the high will be near 82. Mostly clear skies will follow into Tuesday night, along with patchy fog after 2 a.m. The low will be around 58.

Patchy fog is possible before 8 a.m. Wednesday — otherwise, sunny skies are predicted. The high will be near 83.

Partly cloudy skies will follow into Wednesday night, along with a slight chance of showers. The low will be around 62.
