The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected to persist in the Wyoming Valley through the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 64 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies were reported.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, along with winds that could gust as high as 20 mph. Today’s high will be near 84.

Cloudy skies will carry over into tonight, along with a slight chance of showers between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., and a chance of showers and thunderstorms into Friday morning. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and tonight’s low will be around 68.

Partly sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the high will be near 88.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Friday night, along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 70.

Saturday will bring mostly cloudy skies, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms earlier in the day before becoming likely after 2 p.m. The high will be near 87.

Showers will continue to be likely into Saturday night, along with a possible thunderstorm. The low will be around 68.

Partly sunny skies will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, along with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 83.

Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Sunday night, with a low around 63.
