DALLAS — Borough residents will see no tax increase, according to the proposed 2016 budget.

Dallas Borough Council voted to advertise the 2016 proposed budget during Wednesday night’s municipal meeting. The budget is slated to be voted on at 7 p.m. during the Dec. 16 council meeting. The budget is available at the municipal building for public viewing.

According to the proposed budget, the borough’s mill rate will hold at 1.31 mills. A mill is $1 in tax for every $1,000 in assessed value. The preliminary budget also contains no increase in the earned income, real estate transfer and local services taxes.

The borough’s General Insurance Package “went down a few hundred dollars” from last year, Tracey Carr, borough manager, said. The new package, totaling $27,119, was unanimously approved by the council.

The council members approved $18,443 for workers’ compensation coverage for 2016.

In other news,

• The council voted to approve a two percent contribution to the police officers’ member contribution of the police pension plan for 2016.

• Non-Uniformed Pension Plan member contributions were set at one percent for 2016.

• The council members approved a $100 holiday bonus to full-time public works and administrative employees and a $50 bonus for part-time, non-seasonal employees.

The Dallas Borough Council will hold a public work session at 7 p.m. Dec. at the municipal building. The next regular monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at the municipal building.
