Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table meeting

DALLAS — The Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

Guest speakers Tracey McIntire and Audrey Scanlan-Teller will present “Women Soldiers in the Civil War.” The presentation will highlight hundreds of documented cases of women who disguised themselves as men to fight as soldiers during the Civil War.

A $3 donation fee is accepted from non-members.

Birding at Frances Slocum State Park

Life in the Pond

WYOMING — Children, ages 5 and older, are invited to week what creatures are living in the water at Frances Slocum State Park on Saturday, June 16.

The “Life in the Pond” event is slated for 2 p.m. on June 16. The group will meet at the gravel parking lot at the bottom of Campground Road at the park, 567 Mt. Olivet Road.
