DALLAS — The Back Mountain Memorial Library lists the following upcoming events.

A special story hour at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10 will be held as part of the “PA One Book, Every Young Child” early literacy initiative.

The 2018 selection for this program is “My Cousin Momo” by Zachariah OHora. Caregivers of children who are 6 years old and younger may call the library at 570-675-1182 or stop by to register.

Each family will receive a paperback copy of the book, stickers and a brochure to enable parents and caregivers to continue the promotion of early literacy with their children at home.

Yarn crafts are experiencing a surge in popularity, but it is hard to teach yourself. Come join our crocheting class to learn the basics and get help with your questions. The group meets at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Reference Room. Call for information and to reserve your slot.

News and Notice:

Dates for the 72nd Library Auction are July 5, 6, 7, and 8.

The lovely handmade quilt on display in the library is being raffled off in conjunction with the auction. Tickets are now ready for sale, with chances at $2 each or three for $5. Stop in and see “Goose Crossing,” a graphic pattern pieced in shades of blue and white by Leslie Horoshko. The drawing will be held the last night of the auction and you don’t need to be present to win.

Boy Scouts of Troop 281 will again run the Toy Tent at the auction. They awould appreciate donations of gently used or new toys and games. You can bring your donations to the library or call the Scout contacts: Randy Perry at 570-899-2795 or Mark Chappell at 570-479-7641.

We’ve begun signing up volunteers for the auction. Teens 12 years old or older are welcome to help in setting up of the various booths. Adults are also invited to help, whether setting up or volunteering during the auction. Even an hour or two will help us make this major fundraiser a success! Dates for set-up are Sunday, July 1; Monday, July 2; and Tuesday, July 3. Call the Library to sign up.
