Zen Meditation program planned

DALLAS — Introduction to Zen Meditation will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 at Mercy Center on the campus of Misericordia Univesity.

The program includes an explanation of Zen Meditation, a brief practice session and time for comments and questions.

Family-style Beef Dinner scheduled

SWEET VALLEY — Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company will serve a beef dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Take-outs will begin at 4 p.m. Adult dinners are $12. Volunteers needed at park

WYOMING — Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 28 to help spruce up Frances Slocum State Park, 565 Mount Olivet Road, for the summer reason. Possible projects will be picking up litter, removing debris from trails and raking mulch. Participants are asked to stop at the office for their assignment.

Free Community Dance Class planned

LEHMAN TWP. — Caitlyn Metz, artistic director at Take the Stage Center for the Performing Arts, will hold a free community dance class to celebrate National Dance Week from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s gym, 1269 Old Route 115.

The free event is for everyone of any age and ability.

Registration is at 2:30 p.m.

Attendees will learn the official NDF 2018 Dance Mob Dance and video it for NDF’s website and social media.

Spring rummage sale planned

DALLAS — The Dorcas Society of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Road, will hold its spring rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5. Items for sale include clothing for men, women, and children; shoes, coats, household goods, games, puzzles, books, linens, small appliances, household decorations, jewelry, etc. Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase.

Mother’s Day at Music Box

SWOYERSVILLE — Treat mom to a rare treat: A gourmet dinner and a performance of Mel Brooks’ hilarious musical, “The Producers” May 13 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St.

Admission is $50. All theatre-goers have a choice of the following entrees: prime rib of beef au jus or jumbo shrimp stuffed with crabmeat.

Bar opens at 1 p.m., dinner is served at 1:30 p.m. and the show begins at 3 p.m.

Other performances of “The Producers” are scheduled for April 28, 29, May 4 to 6, 11 and 12. A buffet dinner is featured. At all performances, show-only tickets are also available.
