Greenwood graduates from Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG — Wendy Greenwood, of Dallas, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Shippensburg University at the December 2017 graduation.
A 2013 graduate of Dallas High School, Greenwood majored in Elementary and Special Education and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi education honor society.
Ford recognized as LVC Student-Athlete
ANNVILLE — Rebecca Ford, of Shavertown, is one of more than 150 student-athletes who competed for the Flying Dutchmen during the Winter 2017-18 sports season.
A graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, Ford is pursuing a bachelor of science in communication sciences and disorders at Lebanon Valley College.
She was a member of the women’s indoor track and field team that earned six medals at the 2017-18 MAC Indoor Championships.
Aardweg joins NEPA Alliance staff
PITTSTON — Athena Aardweg, of Benton, has joined the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance as a Community & Economic Development Specialist.
In this role, Aardweg will provide support to the organization’s Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center and the NEPA Grantmakers Forum.
Before joining NEPA Alliance, Aardweg worked in a variety of roles for organizations across the state, including Information & Referral Specialist in Pittsburgh, Regional Housing Coordinator covering Northeast PA and most recently as the executive director of the Northern Columbia Community & Cultural Center in Benton.
Aardweg is currently an advisory member of the Berwick Health & Wellness Fund Committee and a founding member of the Women’s Giving Circle at the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation.
Aardweg holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University, a master’s degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Public Administration, with a focus on nonprofit management, from the University of Pittsburgh. She resides in Benton.
U of S students inducted into society
SCRANTON — Back Mountain residents were among 54 University of Scranton students inducted into Beta Beta Beta, the national honor society for biology. For induction into the honor society, students must have completed at least three biology courses, maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average in biology, and be in good academic standing at the University.
Local students inducted are:
