DALLAS — The following events have been scheduled at the Back Mountain Memorial Library, 96 Huntsville Road:

• Amnesty Week will be observed Nov. 13-18. Fines will be waived on all overdue items returned this week. This does not cover previous fines, or fees on lost or damaged items.

• Author Barbara DeWitt Smith will present her book, “Home At Last,” which speaks about the unique challenges adult children of alcoholics face and gives hope through the use of therapy at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15. To register, call 570-675-1182.

• Christmas Extravaganza, from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17, and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1.The annual holiday sale will feature gift items, decorations, wreaths, vintage collectibles, Nativity sets, and all things Christmas.

• “Fall Into STEM” Adventure, 10 a.m. Nov. 18 in the Children’s Room. Children can learn to build a bridge that will hold a dinosaur, program a robot to execute a mission and so my more. Call 570-675-1182 to register.

• The library will be closed Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving and will reopen on Nov. 24.

• The Slightly Read Bookstore will be closed Nov. 22 and 23 for the holiday. It will be open Nov. 24 and 25.

Brian Orbin’s collection of Harvey’s Lake memorabilia is definitely worth seeing at the library. Stop in to view his fantastic display of historical items, and relive the days when a trip to “The Lake” was a special treat.

A new patron christened his library card by checking out a book by legendary Sci-Fi author Arthur C. Clarke. “I thought I’d read all his books, but I’ve never seen this one,” he said. The library has an amazing selection of classic science fiction authors, including Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Andre Norton, Larry Niven, Poul Anderson, Philip K. Dick and Robert Heinlein.

The latest session of Monday Night Yoga has started and runs through Dec. 11. You can still sign up for the gently challenging workout, which starts at 6:30 p.m. and meets in the Community Room. Call 570-675-1182 for information.
