LEHMAN TWP. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre students recently participated in a campus-wide community service project in recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Four student groups, The Business Club, The Revolt, Four Seasons and Lazy Artists, collected and prepared 40 gently used purses for the ‘Hugs & Hope In A Handbag Project.’

Purses were filled with personal items, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, lotions, hair brushes, combs, tissues and feminine products. In addition, the Lazy Artists held a “ping-pong” tournament and raised $113. The purses and the check were presented to Tammy Rodgers, representative from Domestic Violence Service Center in Wilkes-Barre.
