The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for today for several counties in northeastern Pa., including Luzerne.

The NWS indicated it was 76 degrees as of 8:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with mostly cloudy conditions reported.

The hazardous outlook indicates that a cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the region today with heavy rainfall possible, which may cause isolated runoff issues in urbanized and other poor-drainage areas. Gusty winds are also possible.

Today’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 5 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 5 p.m. High near 79. South wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts up to a half an inch possible.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Light and variable winds becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the evening.

Monday is expected to be sunny with a high near 77. Winds will be out of the northwest at 9 to 14 mph.

Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 50, with patchy fog after 2 a.m.

Patchy fog is expected to continue into Tuesday morning before 8 a.m. Otherwise, Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 79. Tuesday night it will be clear with a low around 60, but with patchy fog expected after 2 a.m.
